Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated State Preschool Teacher to join our team at Volunteers of America Southwest. As a State Preschool Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children aged 2-5 years old, promoting their cognitive, physical, and social-emotional growth and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Classroom Safety: Develop and implement a plan to ensure the safety of children within the group, utilizing indoor and outdoor facilities, and completing daily health and safety checklists.
  • Effective Teaching Practices: Plan and conduct classroom activities that encourage healthy habits, select and use materials and equipment that stimulate development, and promote children's progress across the standards described in the Early Learning Outcomes Framework.
  • Parent-Family-Community Engagement: Encourage participation in parent groups, provide opportunities for parents to use their skills and talents, and conduct parent education meetings to discuss child development, curriculum, and parenting skills.
  • Program Responsibilities: Attend trainings and meetings, perform special projects, and abide by Agency Code of Conduct and policies, including applicable laws such as Mandated Reporting.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate of Arts (AA) or Bachelors of Arts (BA) degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
  • Experience: At least two years' experience in a classroom or group setting with infant/toddlers or preschoolers.
  • Licenses/Permits/Certifications: California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher, and AB 1207 Mandated Reporter CA certified.
