Overview
The Underwriter is responsible for overseeing the underwriting and management of renewal accounts for brokers and producers within the designated territory, ensuring adherence to company underwriting standards. This role is situated in our Scottsdale, AZ office.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive research on emerging classes of business and industry trends
- Assess market viability and recommend modifications to form wording and rate structures
- Collaborate with brokers to review individual risks and make informed acceptance decisions
- Evaluate risk exposures, establish premiums, and create customized manuscript wordings
- Meet production and loss ratio objectives through proficient management
- Analyze premium and loss performance by state and major business classes
- Manage policy maintenance and mid-term requests effectively
- Review and authorize essential policy modifications and loss control reports
- Engage in travel to broker offices, perform policy audits, and devise marketing strategies
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline
- 5+ years of experience in commercial lines property and casualty
- Proficiency in Excess Casualty coverage and risk assessment
- Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities
- Ability to contribute to strategic initiatives and work collaboratively
Preferred:
- CPCU, AIS, or CIC designation
