Job Summary

The Behavior Specialist II is responsible for providing consultation to treatment teams on instructional strategies, evaluating individual behavior issues and skills that impact learning, and developing, implementing, and monitoring the effectiveness of behavior plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultation to treatment teams on instructional strategies and best practices.
  • Evaluate individual behavior issues and skills that impact learning, and develop strategies to address them.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the effectiveness of behavior plans, ensuring they meet the needs of individuals and align with organizational goals.
  • Provide support to acute behavior issues, and collaborate with treatment teams to develop and implement crisis intervention plans.
  • Complete required documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and data collection.
  • Develop and implement in-service training on behavior management to staff, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge needed to support individuals with complex needs.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a field related to clinical or community psychology, or a related human services field.
  • BCBA certification and OPWDD-approved specialized training or experience in functional assessment techniques and behavior support plan development.
  • Valid NYS Driver's License.
