Job Summary

The Department of Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dining Room Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for training and coordinating the work performance of student employees and Culinary Assistants in the areas of guest relations, dining room service, and line service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and train staff to ensure exceptional customer service and high-quality food presentation.
  • Coordinate the efforts of employees to maintain a clean and organized dining environment.
  • Ensure adherence to all established safety and sanitation procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Operate cash registers and perform customer service duties as needed.
  • Assist with food preparation and presentation, including plating and garnishing.
  • Supervise and assist in the serving of food, ensuring timely and efficient service.
  • Prepare and distribute reports, including charge vouchers and meal vouchers.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in the serving of food, or closely related experience.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow policies and procedures, especially those pertaining to sanitation and safety.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees and customers.
  • Knowledge of food service methods and equipment, including menu management systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Supervisory and leadership skills, with the ability to train and instruct employees.
  • Knowledge of point of sale systems and cash register operation.
  • Current Illinois Food Service Sanitation Manager Certificate.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
