The role involves operative call, routine surgical procedures, and outpatient clinic responsibilities. The ideal candidate will assist in covering maternity leaves within the surgical team.
Coverage Requirements: The position will require coverage for two maternity leaves, with potential for ongoing locum tenens support thereafter.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 4 PM, with routine daily surgical coverage and clinic responsibilities.
- Call Schedule: Evening call begins at 5 PM, with operative call determined by the surgeon's discretion.
- On-call responsibilities will be nightly, with the possibility of splitting call duties if two Physician Assistants are available.
- Work Environment: Academic medical center.
- Full-Time Equivalent: Seeking two full-time positions for this coverage period.
- Key Responsibilities: Assist in surgical procedures and perform endoscopic vessel harvesting for cardiothoracic cases.
- Required Skills: Proficiency in routine cardiac surgeries, including AVR, MVR, CABG, and some vascular and thoracic procedures. Experience in a level 1 trauma facility is advantageous.
- Electronic Medical Records: Familiarity with EPIC.
- Support Staff: Collaborate with CVOR technicians, nursing staff, and anesthesia teams.
- Reason for Coverage: To accommodate maternity leaves within the current surgical team.
- Team collaboration is essential to ensure seamless coverage during this period.
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate, including call pay, malpractice coverage, and travel expenses.
