The Detroit Medical Center (DMC) is seeking a highly skilled Anatomical Specimen Technician - Histology to join our team. Located in the vibrant city of Detroit, Michigan, this position offers a unique opportunity to work with a leading academic medical center and contribute to the advancement of medical research.

About the Role:

  • Receive and prepare surgical and autopsy tissue specimens for microscopic examination.
  • Perform standard histological procedures, including embedding, sectioning, staining, cover slipping, labeling, etc.
  • Assist pathologists with gross dissection of tissue specimens and setup laboratory equipment.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, perform quality control and preventive maintenance, and replenish stock reagents.
  • Participate in training other laboratory personnel and development of new procedures and research projects.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma plus two years histotechnology training, or an Associate's degree in science with one year histotechnology training, or a certificate from an accredited school of histotechnology.
  • Registration as a HTL (Histotechnologist), HT (Histotechnician), or registry eligible through the ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists).

Salary and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary of $60,000-$80,000 per year, based on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, employee assistance programs, life insurance, and a 401K savings plan.
