Histology Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Histology Technician to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a Histology Technician, you will play a critical role in preparing and processing tissue specimens for microscopic examination.

Job Summary:

• Receive and prepare surgical and autopsy tissue specimens for microscopic examination.
• Perform standard histological procedures, including embedding, sectioning, staining, cover slipping, labeling, etc.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including performing quality control and preventive maintenance.
• Participate in training other laboratory personnel and development of new procedures.

About the Role:

This is a full-time position working evenings, with a shift schedule of 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday. The successful candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

What We Offer:

The Detroit Medical Center offers a competitive salary of $62,000 - $82,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) savings plan.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma plus two years histotechnology training or an Associate's degree in a related field.
• Registration as HTL (Histotechnologist), HT (Histotechnician), or registry eligible through the ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists).
