Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Scholar to join our research team at the University of Washington. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and synthesizing novel polymers and biomaterials for the targeted/controlled delivery of microbial metabolites or other immunomodulatory molecules.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and synthesize novel polymers and biomaterials for targeted/controlled delivery of microbial metabolites or other immunomodulatory molecules.
  • Evaluate the functionality of these materials both in vitro and in vivo.
  • Independently manage the project while collaboratively determining its future direction with the Principal Investigator.
  • Plan and perform experiments, write manuscripts, and participate in and present research findings at local and national meetings.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering/Biomedical Engineering, Medicinal Chemistry, or closely related field.
  • A strong track record in organic chemistry and polymer synthesis is highly desirable, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications.
  • Proficiency in analytical techniques including but not limited to NMR, HPLC, LC-MS/MS, GPC, DLS, and UV/Vis.
  • Previous experience in animal work is preferred; candidates must be willing to work with animals.
  • The candidate must be self-motivated and willing to acquire new skills and enjoy working both independently and in a team setting.
