Job Title: Career Counselor

Living Resources is a non-profit human services agency dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities or life-challenging conditions to live with dignity, independence, and happiness. As a Career Counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting our clients in achieving their vocational goals.

Job Summary:

The Career Counselor will provide vocational assistance to individuals with disabilities, managing a diverse caseload of clients receiving OPWDD and/or ACCES-VR services. This includes providing individualized assistance with job preparation, search, development, placement, coaching, and/or traveling training. The Career Counselor will also provide vocational counseling & guidance to identify potential career and educational pathways, collaborating closely with employers and community partners to secure employment opportunities.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage a diverse caseload of clients receiving OPWDD and/or ACCES-VR services
  • Provide individualized assistance with job preparation, search, development, placement, coaching, and/or traveling training
  • Provide vocational counseling & guidance to identify potential career and educational pathways
  • Collaborate closely with employers and community partners to secure employment opportunities
  • Document services in detailed case notes and reports and submit in a timely manner
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or master's Degree in a related field and at least one year of experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for local travel in the Capital Region
  • Familiarity with OPWDD's Employment Training Program preferred but not required
  • Experience as a teacher or educator preferred
  • Computer skills and strong case management skills
  • Must be flexible, independent, and adept at prioritizing job responsibilities
