About the Automotive or Diesel Mechanic Position

We are seeking a skilled Automotive or Diesel Mechanic to join our team at First Student. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of our fleet of school buses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on Type-A, Type-C, and Type-D school buses, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
  • Lead preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections.
  • Diagnose and repair complex vehicle and equipment issues.
  • Assist with mobile emergency services and ensure work orders are completed accurately.

Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license is required; willingness to obtain CDL within 90 days while employed - We train.
  • At least 5 years of automotive or diesel maintenance & repair experience or technical school education.
  • Possess a mechanic's tool set.
  • Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program. Training, testing, and bonuses are provided.

  • A competitive wage of $30 - $35 per hour based on previous experience and qualifications.
