Position Summary:

The Business Growth Advisor plays a crucial role in the Mid-Hudson Small Business Development Center, primarily focusing on providing guidance and support to entrepreneurs and small business owners. This position involves working at various satellite offices and engaging with clients in diverse settings, which may require some local travel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver personalized business advisement to clients, ensuring tailored support that meets their unique needs.
  • Conduct group training sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge of business owners.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and provide follow-up services as required.
  • Assist clients in developing business plans, conducting financial analyses, and preparing financial statements and projections.
  • Support marketing initiatives and promotional strategies to help businesses grow.
  • Identify funding opportunities and facilitate connections with external resources.
  • Maintain relationships with local lending institutions and economic development organizations.
  • Document all client interactions and activities in the designated statewide database for performance tracking.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle varying client demands effectively.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a business environment or related consulting field.
  • Experience in banking or financial services is advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to foster trust and confidence among clients.
  • Proficiency in using Excel and other relevant software tools.
Educational Background:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience in business ownership, management, or consulting is a plus.
