Shift: 40 hours; Monday - Friday; Varied daytime hours based on patient needs

Location: Buncombe County, NC

Compensation: $18.50 per hour

Role Summary

The In-Home Aide is responsible for delivering personal care and managing home tasks for clients eligible for Guide Model Caregiver services. This role collaborates closely with Memory Care in Asheville, NC, under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to the scope of training, certification, and legal regulations.
  • Execute tasks as directed by a registered nurse.
  • Implement safety and infection control protocols.
  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs).
  • Maintain punctuality and professional attire.
  • Complete required orientation and ongoing training, including modules from MemoryCare Caregiver College.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Understanding of proper body mechanics.
  • Knowledge of infection control principles and environmental safety.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Initiative and creativity in problem-solving.
  • Team player with the ability to coordinate projects.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply policies, laws, and regulations.
Minimum Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: Preferred one (1) year of caregiving experience.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance.
  • Maintain a valid, good-standing listing on NCNAR if working as a CNA.
Physical Requirements
  • Walking, standing, sitting, bending, reaching, twisting, crouching/squatting, kneeling.
  • Flexion/Extension of arms/wrists.
  • Hand dexterity for gripping, pushing/pulling, and writing.
  • Ability to assist with transfers and repositioning of clients.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Work towards performance goals and individual development plans.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training as required.
  • Observe Universal Precautions and apply infection control principles.
  • Communicate any changes in client condition to the Palliative Care RN.
  • Document care provided according to the plan of care.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety of the client area.
  • Demonstrate proper transfer and lift techniques.
  • Assist with ADLs such as bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and toileting.
  • Assist with IADLs such as housekeeping, meal preparation, and medication reminders.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the registered nurse or clinical team leader.
