Role Summary:

Under the supervision of the Imaging Services Director and Chief of Diagnostic Imaging, the Senior Mammography Technologist is responsible for conducting radiographic diagnostic imaging procedures to aid physicians in identifying diseases and injuries. This role involves operating radiographic equipment to generate high-quality images of the body and ensuring optimal patient care through safe and efficient practices.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and empathy while explaining procedures to patients to alleviate concerns and secure their cooperation.
  • Prepares and positions patients for imaging procedures.
  • Utilizes immobilization devices to achieve the best views of the specified body area as requested by the physician.
  • Determines exposure factors based on patient characteristics and imaging requirements.
  • Adjusts equipment settings to ensure images are captured with appropriate detail and accuracy.
  • Operates mobile radiologic equipment in various settings, including operating rooms and emergency departments.
  • Assists radiologists and qualified physicians during fluoroscopic and specialized x-ray examinations.
  • Prepares images for review by radiologists or requesting physicians.
  • Processes images and ensures proper identification and quality control.
  • Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs on radiologic equipment, coordinating repairs as necessary.
  • Implements radiation protection techniques to minimize exposure to patients and staff, maintaining accurate records of work performed.
  • Trains new staff and students as needed.
  • Fulfills additional responsibilities as required.
  • This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a specialty (e.g., IR, CT, Mammography, or Quality Management) or one year of experience with ARRT certification in that specialty.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • California Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy Certificate.
  • California Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate.
  • Basic Life Support certification.

Additional Requirements:

  • ACLS certification may be required.
  • Ability to perform general diagnostic and routine fluoroscopic duties across all age groups.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding instructions and correspondence.
  • Capable of effectively presenting information to diverse audiences.
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Compliance with relevant collective bargaining agreements.
  • For roles requiring venipuncture, certification must be obtained as specified.
  • Educational opportunities will be provided to assist in passing the California permit test upon request.
  • California Mammography Certificate, if required for the position.
