Job Title: Counselor - Substance Abuse Treatment

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Counselor to join our team at Behavioral Health Services North Inc. As a Counselor, you will work with individuals, couples, families, and community residents to develop and maintain coping skills and resources necessary to reduce and/or eliminate substance-related use concerns.

Responsibilities:

• Provide supportive and educational individual, couples, family, and group counseling services.
• Document all services in accordance with Federal and State regulations, as well as BHSN policies and procedures.
• Coordinate services with primary care providers, legal entities, psychiatrists/psychiatric nurse practitioners, mental health clinicians, and other chemical dependency treatment facilities.
• Develop and document treatment plans, safety plans, and other related paperwork in a timely manner.
• Perform alcohol and drug related oral and/or urine screenings.

Requirements:

• Associate's degree or higher preferred in the human services field.
• Valid NYS Educational Department CASAC certification.
• 1 to 2 years' experience in mental health or rehabilitation environment preferred.
• CPR certification within one year of hire is required.
• Valid NYS driver's license and reliable transportation for required travel.
