Aerial Equipment Technician

The U.S. Army's Aerial Equipment Technicians play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and readiness of UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters. With hundreds of Army missions relying on these aircraft, it is essential to maintain their optimal condition.
Job SummaryAerial Equipment Technicians are responsible for performing maintenance and repair tasks on UH-60 helicopters, including engine disassembly and repair, airframe/covering repairs, and hydraulic, fuel, and electrical system repairs.
Key Responsibilities- Remove and install aircraft subsystem assemblies such as engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, and mechanical flight controls.
- Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems.
- Prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks.
- Assist in diagnosing/troubleshooting.
- Be between the ages of 17– 40.
- Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED.
- Submit to background and medical screening.
- Receive a passing score on the ASVAB.
Job training for an Aerial Equipment Technician requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 15 weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instruction. Some of the skills you'll learn include:
- Engine disassembly and repair.
- Repair of aluminum, steel, and fiberglass airframes/coverings.
- Repair of hydraulic, fuel, and electrical systems.
