Job Summary

The Island Coordinator is a key position at INPEACE, responsible for overseeing and guiding Keiki Steps programming on designated neighbor islands. This role is aligned with the general direction of the Keiki Steps Director and involves supervising and supporting staff in areas such as curriculum implementation, lesson development, and skill enhancement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Supervision: Provides day-to-day supervision of assigned Keiki Steps sites, ensuring effective implementation of programs and services.
  • Staff Development: Provides onboarding and program training to new staff, as well as supports existing staff with professional development to improve practice and increase participant outcomes.
  • Curriculum Implementation: Facilitates and assists in the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum, ensuring alignment with Keiki Steps' goals and objectives.
  • Program Evaluation: Conducts evaluation and feedback on teaching strategies and implementation, identifying areas for improvement and suggesting solutions.
  • Site Visits: Conducts regular site visits to monitor program progress, provide support, and ensure compliance with Keiki Steps' policies and procedures.
  • Performance Reviews: Coordinates with the Director to complete and conduct performance reviews, ensuring staff are held accountable for their performance.
  • Grant Reporting: Assists in the preparation and submission of grant reports, ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
  • Cultural Competence: Supports the daily use of Hawaiian cultural activities and practices, as well as the daily use of the Hawaiian language, to promote cultural competence and understanding.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, the Island Coordinator must possess:

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials and 5 years' experience in the Keiki Steps Program (Level 1)
  • Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and 3 years' experience in Keiki Steps Program (Level 2)
  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field and 2 years of classroom teaching experience, some of which is in an FCIL setting (Level 3)
  • Master's degree in early childhood education or related field (Level 4)
Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Master's degree in early childhood education or other closely related field
  • Experience with program development, project management, and program evaluation
  • Knowledge and sensitivity to the interests and needs of families in Native Hawaiian and/or poverty communities
Essential Job Requirements

The Island Coordinator must be able to:

  • Sit, kneel, squat, stand, and bend for 6-8 hours at a time
  • Lift up to 25 pounds
