We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Supervisor to join our team at CommonSpirit. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns, as well as providing guidance and support to tax analysts and senior tax analysts.
Key Responsibilities- Tax Return Preparation and Review: Perform detailed reviews of tax returns to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and CommonSpirit policies and procedures.
- Supervisory Role: Serve as a primary contact for tax issues raised by tax analysts and senior tax analysts, and assist in managing the tax return preparation process.
- Consulting and Advisory Services: Provide consulting and advisory services to market-based organizations, national staff, tax analysts, and senior tax analysts on a variety of tax issues, including payroll, sales and use, income, property taxes, and exempt status.
- Process Improvement: Establish processes to efficiently prepare and review tax returns, including updating tax organizers in accordance with changes made by the IRS and state and local taxing authorities.
- Training and Development: Assist with tax-related training of tax staff and other staff members who participate in the tax return preparation process.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Review FAS 109 & ASC 740-10 computations for year-end audit, and assist in the development of tax policy for CommonSpirit and market-based organizations.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting required, master's degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of four years of experience in tax preparation and tax research required, with a minimum of one to two years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Certifications: CPA or attorney preferred.
