Position Overview:
The Logistics Operations Specialist will be responsible for providing comprehensive logistics support, ensuring accountability, and maintaining internal controls for various programs. This role involves collaboration with program managers to address property management challenges and streamline supply processes.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will engage in a variety of logistics activities, including but not limited to:
- Assessing documentation prepared by program managers to ensure accuracy before submission for property management and reconciliation.
- Coordinating with management control activities to facilitate effective communication regarding transfer packages and their statuses.
- Evaluating the accuracy of asset information following program manager submissions and requests for updates.
- Conducting training sessions on property accountability and participating in discussions to reconcile discrepancies.
- Reviewing and processing requests related to equipment disposition, financial investigations, and inter-agency transfers.
- Providing support in property management functions related to acquisition and fielding of equipment as necessary.
- Participating in internal control meetings to ensure compliance with audit requirements and assist program managers in meeting operational standards.
- Coordinating with team members to ensure timely submission of required documentation during audit readiness tasks.
- Reviewing submissions and reconciling actions with account managers to ensure completion of requests.
- Offering technical recommendations to enhance internal control procedures and address property management issues.
- Assessing property accountability status and providing guidance to custodians on best practices and compliance.
- Collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders to uphold supply chain management principles and identify areas for improvement.
- Assisting in audits and physical inventories of property across multiple locations.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics operations, particularly within the defense sector.
- Familiarity with government logistics systems such as PIEE, GCSS-MC, DPAS, and TFSMS is preferred.
Essential Skills:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Excellent verbal communication skills for articulating concepts and proposals.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work well within a team environment.
Security Clearance:
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and are required to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for this position.
Physical Requirements:
This role may involve prolonged periods of sitting or standing, as well as the ability to perform tasks that require bending, reaching, and kneeling. Candidates should be able to lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
