Senior Mechanical Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Designer to join our team at Pyramid Consulting, Inc. This is a contract opportunity with a leading Construction Industry client, and we are looking for a talented individual to lead design projects and work collaboratively with clients, project managers, engineers, and designers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead design on a variety of projects, including facility modifications and new facilities, for governmental, commercial, industrial, and manufacturing clients.
  • Quality review PFDs and P&IDs from verbal or written descriptions from design engineers.
  • Quality review basic formulas, principles, and practices, and utilize acquired knowledge of fundamental concepts and practices pertaining to the mechanical discipline.
  • Lead drawing, planning, development, and production work, including problem analysis, design layout, and calculations on non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
  • Evaluate designs or sketches and redline or mark client feedback on ongoing projects for quality assurance.
  • Approve reports, drawings, and tests to plan and lead design projects to meet deliverables.
  • Approve design codes and specifications related to design requirements.
  • Lead production of design drawings within scope, budget, and schedule, and perform project tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines.
  • Compute calculations for layouts, equipment, and schematics under the direction of the engineer.
  • Incorporate schedules, budgets, and project criteria into mechanical design and layouts for project financial goals.
  • Responsible for the quality review of all revisions of project drawings, plot files, and project-related information in a logical and well-structured manner.
  • Train, mentor, and develop less experienced drafting, detailing, and design staff members.
  • Participate in marketing and client development meetings.
  • Responsible for the mechanical design QA/QC process.
Key Requirements and Technology Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or related field and thirteen years related experience, or associate's degree and fourteen years related experience, or fifteen years progressive detailing and design experience.
  • Expert understanding of design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, BIM 360, and MicroStation to develop design deliverables.
  • Expert understanding of planning, managing, organizing, setup, documenting, and delivering complex BIM models and related digital products across diverse project teams.
  • Experience with training team members, establishing BIM standards, and implementing BIM best practices.
  • Expert ability to utilize 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
  • Expert knowledge in design, calculations, and design systems.
  • Expert knowledge in the theory and practices of assigned discipline, competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline, and capable of operating related discipline design software necessary to execute production tasks.
  • Work collaboratively with others, including clients, project managers, engineers, and designers, in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
