Surgical Technologist Position in Metro Detroit

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technician to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the success of our medical center.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting surgeons during operations, preparing surgical equipment and supplies, and maintaining a clean and safe operating room environment. They will also be involved in transporting patients to and from the operating room, verifying patient identities, and assisting with lifting and positioning patients for surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist surgeons during operations, handling surgical instruments, sutures, and sponges as needed.
- Prepare for scheduled operative procedures, ensuring that necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and ready for use.
- Maintain a clean and safe operating room environment, cleaning rooms and sterilizing equipment as required.
- Transport patients to and from the operating room, verifying patient identities and assisting with lifting and positioning patients for surgical procedures.
- Assist as a second circulator under the direction of a registered nurse, preparing materials for departmental in-service education programs and participating in trial and evaluation of new surgical products.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited surgical technician program.
- Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists is highly desirable.
- One to two years experience as a surgical technician is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively and efficiently with nursing and medical staff in stressful and emergency situations.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience. Our benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401(k) savings plan and employee assistance program.
