About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Dietetic Assistant to join our Food Service Department at Newton Medical Center. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest quality care for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and assemble menus for assigned floors, ensuring consistency with patient orders in the Care Manager system.
  • Communicate effectively with nurses on assigned units to address patient requests and supply needs.
  • Document delivery of late trays and new orders to monitor food costs and optimize service.
  • Maintain a friendly and efficient attitude towards customers, coworkers, and clients, adhering to departmental and hospital standards.
  • Assess patient acceptance and tolerance of food during meals and overall satisfaction with the service.
  • Communicate necessary information to Dietitians and Clinical Nutrition Coordinator regarding patients at nutritional risk.
  • Deliver trays to patients in a timely fashion, verifying patient identifiers and NPO lists.
  • Prepare cold food items according to specifications, ensuring appeal and proper labeling.
  • Deliver food stock and supplies to assigned units, stocking supplies to par levels and recording daily deliveries to monitor food costs.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Previous food service experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull 50 pounds.
