Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time role. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility is permitted, but availability during peak hours is essential. Expect extended hours from September to November, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Grain Elevator Operator, you will be responsible for:
  • Adhering to safety protocols and company policies while performing tasks.
  • Executing vital operations to ensure the facility's smooth functioning.
  • Assisting in the unloading, loading, and transferring of grain and related products, including barge, truck, and rail operations.
  • Gaining knowledge of the products handled and their potential hazards.
  • Understanding the operation of conveyance equipment used in shipping, receiving, and transferring grain, along with associated safety systems.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service through courteous and knowledgeable interactions.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and order in the grain handling areas and other designated locations.
  • Monitoring equipment functionality and participating in maintenance activities, reporting any issues to management.
  • Engaging actively as a team member and demonstrating independent thinking.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
Work Environment:

This position operates primarily outdoors, exposing you to grain dust, varying weather conditions, and heavy machinery. Candidates should be comfortable working near water and at heights up to 150 feet, with safety harnesses and life vests required in certain situations.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands for this role include:
  • Regular communication and auditory tasks.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and climb ladders, handling heights up to 150 feet.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
  • Commitment to safety practices.
Education and Experience:

Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Flexibility and multitasking ability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays.
