Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Public Safety Telecommunications Specialist to join our team at the City of College Station. As a key member of our public safety team, you will be responsible for providing critical support to emergency responders and the community through efficient and effective communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, gathering and prioritizing information to ensure timely and accurate response.
  • Operate and monitor complex communication systems, including two-way radios, computer-aided dispatch systems, and other specialized equipment.
  • Process complaints and referrals, utilizing detailed reference materials and standard operating procedures to ensure accurate and efficient resolution.
  • Provide administrative support, including data entry, record-keeping, and communication with other public safety agencies.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel to ensure seamless communication and response to emergency situations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with communication systems and software.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of experience in a related field, such as telecommunications, customer service, or public safety.
  • Knowledge of public safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and provide support to colleagues as needed.
