Job DescriptionThis role is critical to our Tankering Services Group and requires individuals who can safely and efficiently transfer barges, troubleshoot issues, perform minor maintenance, and train other tankermen to do so in accordance with company procedures and USCG regulations.
Tankermen will work in the field on barges, vessels, fleets, and terminals, often in all weather conditions, day and night. The position involves being on-call and responding within one hour of notification, requiring excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism, and the ability to work safely and independently in remote locations.
The ideal candidate will possess a valid Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with Tankerman PIC and Barge DL endorsement, be able to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) card, and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct barge transfers based on MPC's procedures and applicable USCG regulations.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on barges.
- Proficient in all phases of barge transfers, including heater operation on hot oil barges.
- Maintain records and document transfer times.
- Maintain uniforms and equipment necessary for transfers.
- May conduct transfer audits and assist in training new tankermen.
- Interface with customers and maintain a professional demeanor.
- Participate in safety and training activities.
