Your Responsibilities:

As a Lead Educator for STEM Programs, your role will encompass:

  • Delivering engaging and interactive STEM activities at local elementary schools during afterschool or summer programs.
  • Encouraging a mindset of the 6 C's: Curious, Committed, Confident, Careful, Creative, and Changemakers among students.
  • Tailoring instruction to meet the diverse needs of individual learners.
  • Promoting social-emotional learning and embracing diversity within the classroom.
  • Overseeing assistants and volunteers to ensure a cohesive learning environment.
  • Maintaining communication with families to keep them informed and engaged.
  • Promoting SAfG events and initiatives within the community.
  • Building positive relationships with school administrators to enhance program visibility.
  • Assisting with the organization and transportation of STEM materials.
  • Conducting classes at various locations during designated hours.

Additional Program Support:

  • Participating in team meetings and contributing to program-related projects.
  • Assisting in the successful execution of Family STEAM Nights to create engaging experiences for students and families.
  • Coordinating volunteer efforts to strengthen community involvement in our programs.
  • Supporting marketing and outreach initiatives related to STEM activities.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift and transport materials weighing up to 40 lbs.

Educational Background:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Education or a STEM-related field is preferred.

Teaching Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of classroom teaching experience is required.
  • Ability to connect with a diverse range of students and foster an inclusive atmosphere.

Experience with Diverse Learners:

  • Experience working with BIPOC students in Title I schools is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with emergent curriculum, project-based, or inquiry-based learning is a plus.

Classroom Management Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Strong classroom management skills that ensure a safe and supportive learning space.

Commitment to Student Engagement:

  • Dedication to fostering a welcoming and positive classroom atmosphere.
  • Ability to build supportive relationships with students and motivate them effectively.
