Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Assistant to join our team at PeaceHealth. This is a Per Diem/Relief, 8 Hour, Variable Shift position that requires a strong commitment to patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize instruments and supplies to ensure they are safe for use in patient care.
  • Collect, disassemble, clean, and disinfect instrumentation used in procedures.
  • Reassemble instruments and package them appropriately for use.
  • Operate a variety of disinfecting equipment to ensure effective sterilization.
  • Monitor and document sterilization parameters to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Clean and maintain department equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Understand and apply the principles of asepsis in sterile processing work to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
  • Restock work areas and deliver instrumentation to appropriate departments as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service and participate in performance improvement activities to enhance patient care and satisfaction.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous hospital or patient care experience preferred.
  • Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to coordinate activities and work collaboratively with others.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated individual.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, and grasping. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds may be required. Exposure to biohazard, body fluids, and airborne particles is possible. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

Benefits

PeaceHealth offers a competitive salary range of $19.89 - $27.23, dependent on experience and qualifications. This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. Benefits include 403b retirement plan, wellness benefits, discount program, and expanded EAP and mental health program.
