Department Overview:

Applied Technology Services (ATS) operates as an internal service provider, delivering exceptional technical services and expertise as required across all business lines at PG&E Corporation. Located at PG&E's San Ramon Technology Center, ATS comprises a diverse team of approximately 129 engineers and technical professionals engaged in various activities both in the office and field environments.

The Instrument Calibration and Repair Services division specializes in providing calibration and repair solutions for a broad spectrum of measurement and testing equipment utilized throughout PG&E. This unit possesses primary and secondary capabilities in numerous areas, including AC and DC voltage, current, resistance, temperature, airflow, dimensions, time, and frequency. Calibrations conducted for nuclear facilities adhere to federally mandated nuclear quality assurance program standards.

Position Summary:

The Instrument Calibration and Repair (IC&R) Supervisor plays a pivotal role in offering leadership, oversight, training, qualification, engineering support, and guidance to a team of engineering technicians tasked with delivering comprehensive calibration services for measurement and test equipment (M&TE) across all PG&E business lines. The Supervisor is accountable for the entire calibration production process, which encompasses planning, organizing, and monitoring unit assignments while ensuring that work expectations regarding scope, schedule, cost, safety, quality, environmental compliance, and responsiveness are clearly communicated to clients, team members, management, and other stakeholders.

The Supervisor is also responsible for ensuring that all work expectations are met and will take appropriate corrective actions when necessary. Effective personnel management is crucial, including initiating, implementing, and following through with performance management actions for team members, encompassing feedback, accountability, and development planning.

Compensation:

PG&E is providing a salary range that reflects the company's good faith belief regarding potential compensation for this position at the time of posting. This range is specific to the job's locality. Actual salary will be determined based on various factors, including specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. While it is estimated that the successful candidate will be positioned towards the middle or entry point of the range, final decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.

Salary Range:

  • Minimum Base Salary: $147,000.00
  • Mid Base Salary: $199,000.00
  • Maximum Base Salary: $251,000.00

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management of the enterprise system for more than 50,000 M&TE assets across PG&E territory.
  • Ensure compliance with all aspects of the quality management system supporting both ISO 17025 and nuclear safety-related calibrations. Review and approve technical documents related to workflow, including calibration reports, out-of-tolerance reports, work procedures, document control, procurement transactions, requisitions, engineering analyses, and non-conformance reports.
  • Define future service offerings for the Instrument Calibration & Repair Unit that provide value to PG&E. Collaborate with business partners to evaluate and assess new technologies beneficial to their operations. Continuously strive to deliver high-value services to clients and promptly address service delivery issues based on feedback.
  • Engage in ATS planning and coordination activities to ensure the unit is integrated with other ATS services and is well-prepared to meet future PG&E requirements.
  • Establish short- and long-term goals for the unit. Collaborate with the ATS Leadership Team on strategic matters, including the development and implementation of the ATS strategic plan, resource plans, and other special assignments.
  • Ensure timely and efficient achievement of production goals and objectives, necessitating effective team management. This includes monitoring turnaround time, average age of open work orders, financial budgets, etc.
  • Coordinate, lead, and supervise daily production activities of direct reports.
  • Monitor and document employee attendance and performance.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures consistently and fairly.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports on productivity, turnaround time, and other critical business metrics.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of seven years in a relevant technical or engineering environment.
  • Willingness to travel 10-15% of the time.

Desired:

  • Two years of experience in a supervisory role within a production environment.
  • Experience in supervising and managing Bargaining Unit personnel.
