Chemical Research Scientist

VPI Technology, a division of Ludlum Measurements, Inc., is seeking a highly skilled Chemical Research Scientist to join our team in Sweetwater, Texas. As a key member of our Eljen Technology division, you will play a critical role in supporting chemical manufacturing, product development, and quality control in compliance with health and safety regulations.

• Conduct Laboratory Tasks Safely: Perform laboratory tasks with due attention to safety data sheets and in compliance with environmental health and safety standards.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures: Adhere to standard operation processes and ensure satisfactory completion of tasks.
• Identify and Recommend Improvements: Identify areas for improvement in processes, products, and quality, and recommend changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Prepare Laboratory Reports: Write and present laboratory reports to stakeholders.
• Maintain Comprehensive Documentation: Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation on assigned projects and review with peers and/or manager.
• Collaborate with Laboratory and Interdepartmental Teams: Work collaboratively with laboratory and interdepartmental teams to achieve common goals.
• Operate and Maintain Laboratory Equipment: Operate, maintain, and test laboratory equipment, and identify problems when equipment fails.
• Draft Standard Operating Procedures and Safety Materials: Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and safety materials.
• Perform Other Duties as Assigned: Perform other duties as assigned by management.

• Excellent Chemistry Background: Possess a strong chemistry background, including product development experience.
• Excellent Organizational Skills: Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite: Be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proficient with Chemical Testing and Analysis Software: Be proficient with or have the ability to quickly learn software and applications used for chemical tests and analysis.

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering: Possess a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with related laboratory work experience.

• Prolonged Sitting and Computer Work: Spend prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Lifting and Physical Demands: Be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
• Exposure to Chemicals and Compounds: Be exposed to various chemicals and compounds.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Identify, select, and use proper PPE at all times.
