Job Summary

The City of Balch Springs is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Specialist II to join our team. As a key member of our public works department, you will be responsible for performing general and preventive maintenance, construction, and repair duties of assigned City equipment, property, and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain a variety of standard power tools, equipment, and vehicles to perform assigned duties.
  • Perform routine construction, maintenance, and repair on the City's streets, drainage systems, facilities, equipment, and buildings.
  • Ensure general housekeeping of work areas and assigned City vehicles, equipment, etc.
  • Respond to road service and traffic control response as required on-call, including hazardous and severe weather conditions.
  • May assist with repairs, inspections, excavation, and site restoration of City-owned water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least two years of hands-on/outside work experience
  • A valid driver's license, but may require a Class B CDL depending on assignment

Working Conditions:

The employee must have the ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull greater than 50 pounds, and may require infrequent lifting of greater than 100 pounds. This position is exposed to extreme elements, including extreme heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, noise intensity level, moving mechanical parts/hazards, dirt/dust, and odors. Constant use of protective personnel equipment, including footwear, eyewear, and reflective clothing, is required.
