Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Worker II to join our team at the City of Mesquite, TX. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance activities and functions, including installing, maintaining, and repairing concrete, asphalt, drainage, water pipes, and sewer pipes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a variety of equipment, including trucks, air compressors, rollers, and concrete mixers, to repair and install infrastructure.
  • Utilize hand and power tools to assist with routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Provide support to division staff in completing their duties and responsibilities.
  • Inspect and restore equipment fluid levels, lubricate equipment as needed, and report the need for repairs.
  • Assist with excavation projects, including shoveling by hand and using probing rods to locate leaks and utility lines.
  • Complete daily work logs and work orders as required.
  • Adhere to safety regulations, including wearing proper clothing, erecting barricades, and using proper equipment and materials.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least six months of experience in general labor operating motorized equipment and/or hand tools similar to those used in water distribution and/or wastewater collection.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain a Class A Texas driver's license within 90 days of employment.
