We are partnering with a local organization to find a dedicated Academic Tutor to support youth in the foster care system across Houston and surrounding areas.
Job SummaryThis part-time position requires afternoon availability, starting as early as 4:00 PM, with varying start times depending on the location. Flexibility is essential, as tutoring services will be provided in multiple zip code areas.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the daily operations of the Academic Coaching Program under the guidance of the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator.
- Coordinate academic coaching sessions at various sites in Houston and surrounding areas.
- Ensure all sites have necessary supplies.
- Provide one-on-one and group academic coaching to help participants achieve their educational goals.
- Collaborate with academic coaches, volunteers, and other program staff to ensure the success of the program.
- Maintain accurate records of participants' participation, progress, and program outcomes.
- Attend meetings, trainings, and participate in HAY Center events as needed.
- A Bachelor's degree is preferred, but candidates with some college education will be considered.
- Reliable transportation with a valid driver's license and up-to-date liability insurance.
- Experience tutoring youth, particularly those aged 13 and older, is strongly preferred.
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout the greater Houston area for tutoring sessions.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (approximately 20 hours per week) that may change weekly.
- A flexible, adaptable schedule with the ability to respond to changing needs on short notice.
This is a great and meaningful part-time position with a pay rate of $20.01 per hour. The Academic Tutor will also receive training from a prestigious academic tutoring program to ensure that the youth receive consistent and high-quality support.
