Key Responsibilities:
• Uphold the standards of the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Organize, plan, direct, evaluate, and oversee all laboratory functions within the assigned section, which encompasses outreach services, computer operations, and pre- and post-analytical testing, while ensuring associate safety and managing equipment and supply costs.
• Provide essential leadership and administrative guidance to laboratory personnel.
• Ensure that care standards align with the CHRISTUS Health Mission and comply with all regulatory mandates.
• Collaborate closely with hospital leadership to facilitate the attainment of departmental goals.
• Foster the professional development of team members and champion process improvement initiatives to ensure quality, cost-effective services, and satisfaction among patients, physicians, and staff.
• Support CHRISTUS Health by undertaking additional responsibilities as mutually agreed to ensure the effective operation of the organization.
Qualifications:
A. Education and Skills
- A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution, or equivalent laboratory training and experience as defined by regulatory standards.
OR
- Education evaluated by a recognized credentialing agency and deemed equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
OR
- Meets the educational criteria for a Medical Laboratory Technician II (MLT-II).
B. Experience
- A minimum of 3 years of full-time primary laboratory experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) in moderate to high complexity testing for the specific area of responsibility is required.
- Preferred: 5 years of full-time primary laboratory experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) in moderate to high complexity testing.
C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
- Certification for MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from recognized professional organizations is required.
- Certification must be maintained and kept current if it has an expiration date.
