BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB

As a Pediatric Behavioral Health Nurse, you will be responsible for managing individualized, goal-directed nursing care for pediatric behavioral health needs. You will utilize the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.

REPORTS TO

This role reports to the Nurse Manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTSSupervisory Responsibilities:

No supervisory responsibilities are required for this position.

Minimum Education:

A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred, while an Associate's degree is required.

Degree:

A degree in Nursing is required.

License/Certification Required:

Nursing licensure for the State of Tennessee is required.

Minimum Work Experience:

Pediatric nursing experience is preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

This role requires excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as demonstrated clinical abilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCollects Comprehensive Data:

You will collect comprehensive data pertinent to the healthcare needs of patients and formulate nursing diagnoses based on the analysis of that assessment data, documenting data in a concise and timely manner.

Develops and Follows a Plan of Care:

You will develop and follow a plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.

Implements and Coordinates Care:

You will implement and coordinate the delivery of care while employing strategies to promote health and a safe environment.

Evaluates Progress:

You will evaluate progress toward the attainment of outcomes.

Systematically Evaluates Quality and Effectiveness:

You will systematically evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.

Collaborates with the Family:

You will collaborate with the family in the conduct of nursing practice.

Integrates Research Findings:

You will integrate research findings into practice and participate in the generation of new knowledge in innovative ways.

Interacts with Peers and Colleagues:

You will interact with and contribute to the professional development of peers and colleagues.

Serves as a Leader:

You will serve as a leader in the practice setting and in the profession.

Acquires and Maintains Current Knowledge:

You will acquire and maintain current knowledge and competency in nursing practice.

Considers Factors Related to Safety and Effectiveness:

You will consider factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in planning and delivering care.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role requires heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20-30 lbs frequently, and 10lbs constantly to move objects of up to 150 lbs. Sudden emergency situations have the potential for exposure to lifting or moving of up to 150 lbs. Frequent bending, walking, sitting, squatting, reaching, and standing are required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
