Job Overview

The Kitchen Preparation Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining the quality and consistency of food items at Tap Room. This position involves the preparation and cooking of a variety of food products, including seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces, stocks, and bread, in accordance with the Daily Prep List.


Key Responsibilities
  • Thoroughly wash, peel, and chop various ingredients in preparation for cooking.
  • Ensure all items are prepared consistently according to company recipes and standards.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, including the assigned station and the overall kitchen.
  • Handle food items by washing, chopping, and cutting as per recipe requirements.
  • Label and store all products in compliance with company and safety protocols.
  • Receive and organize food supplies, equipment, and utensils in designated storage areas.
  • Promptly report any equipment malfunctions to management.
  • Complete opening and closing checklists and assist team members in these processes.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of assigned recipes and produce them to meet company standards.
  • Follow directions provided by the Kitchen Manager.
  • Foster a supportive team environment by communicating effectively with co-workers.
  • Convey product needs to line cooks, support staff, and the Kitchen Manager.
  • Adhere to standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen policies and procedures.
  • Assist cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks as necessary, providing needed items.
  • Step in for team members as required to uphold quality and service standards.
  • Arrive on time, dressed appropriately and ready to work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Previous experience as a prep or line cook is advantageous.
  • Willingness to work during holidays, regardless of regular scheduled days.
  • Physical demands include the ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and remain on your feet for extended periods.
  • Exhibit a positive and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, hot, humid, and noisy environment for long durations.
