Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Transmission Planning Engineer to join our team at Testa Search Partners.

About the Role:

  • This is a senior-level position that requires advanced knowledge of transmission planning and modeling.
  • You will be responsible for developing, verifying, and adjusting power system models using industry-accepted software tools (PSS/E, PSLF).
  • As a Senior Transmission Planning Engineer, you will perform transmission system studies, evaluate compliance with NERC and regional standards, and complete planning tasks associated with the interconnection of transmission, load, and generation facilities.
  • You will also provide representation at RTO/ISO transmission and generation technical stakeholder workgroups and serve as an SME for Transmission Planning and NERC reliability standards requirements.
  • Your responsibilities will include providing planning and coordination of subtasks for overall projects, delivering complete and accurate project deliverables, and supporting other departments by providing transmission planning, design, or operation expertise.

About You:

  • You have a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering, and about 3-4+ years of relevant transmission planning and/or generation/transmission modeling work experience.
  • You have working experience with power system modeling software tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, PowerWorld, PSS/MUST, TARA, and PSCAD.
  • You possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform and interpret results of steady-state power-flow and short-circuit studies and/or transient stability studies.
  • You are familiar with design, planning, or operation of distribution and/or transmission facilities, as well as RTO or non-RTO interconnection and planning requirements.
  • You are able to interpret findings and share consolidated steady-state or transient-state study results.
  • You have excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
