Position Overview
The Collections Manager will lead the receivables team and oversee the collections operations for the organization, aiming to enhance cash flow while mitigating the risk of bad debts. This role involves collaboration with clients and various internal departments to monitor and proactively manage accounts that are deemed high risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the collection processes for outstanding accounts receivable and provide strategic guidance to ensure effective resolutions.
- Analyze short payments and discrepancies with team members, troubleshoot issues, and offer solutions to associates.
- Compile and deliver regular reports to leadership in AR, Finance, and Sales, focusing on metrics such as Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), bad debt, and high-risk accounts, along with any necessary ad hoc analyses.
- Formulate and implement strategies to reduce delinquency rates.
- Keep a close watch on high-risk accounts and ensure any potential financial exposures are communicated to senior management promptly.
- Oversee a team of associates, providing leadership and support.
- Coordinate and manage the necessary documentation for external audits.
- Maintain and update process documentation to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Reconcile and process adjustments related to bad debts and accounts receivable balance sheet accounts, including reviewing and approving reconciliations.
- Travel may be required for this position.
Work Environment
Office setting with a comfortable temperature range.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in Excel and familiarity with financial systems and software, such as general ledger packages and financial reporting systems, is preferred.
- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus but not mandatory.
Experience Requirements
5-7 years of relevant experience, with a solid understanding of key accounting principles.
