We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team at Southern Veterinary Partners. As a key member of our hospital staff, you will play a vital role in providing a clean, efficient, and healthy environment for the animals in our care.
Responsibilities- Maintain the cleanliness of the hospital, including kennel areas, runs, treatment areas, and outside grounds.
- Feed hospitalized animals and boarders, ensuring their nutritional needs are met.
- Monitor and record important information about the animals' conditions, behavior, and habits, including elimination, eating, and other vital signs.
- Walk animals three times a day, providing exercise and socialization.
- Notify the Doctor or Veterinary Assistant of any unusual medical or behavioral problems.
- Clean treatment, exam, surgery, and lab areas daily, maintaining a safe and hygienic environment.
- Maintain laundry throughout the day, keeping the laundry area neat and organized.
- Assist the Doctor and Veterinary Technicians/Assistants with restraint and treatment of animals, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Monitor and maintain the kennel inventory, including food, cleaning supplies, laundry supplies, and other essential items.
- Perform other duties as assigned, supporting the smooth operation of the clinic and providing excellent care to our clients and their pets.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Flexible schedule, including some weekend and holiday shifts.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills, good judgment, and the ability to manage stressful situations.
- Physical and mental capacity to perform in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
- Previous experience as a kennel technician or in a related field.
