Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Security Officer I to join our team. As a Security Officer I, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of patients, visitors, and staff. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and make a difference in the lives of others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate incidents and disturbances to maintain a safe environment
- Prepare reports and documentation as required
- Perform regular patrols of hospital buildings and grounds
- Monitor access control systems and respond to emergency situations
- Provide escorts and support to staff members as needed
- Deliver deceased bodies to the morgue and release them to authorized personnel
- Respond to all emergency codes and alert management of any deviations from departmental standards
- Enforce hospital policies and procedures
- Conduct contraband searches and monitor individuals or situations to ensure patient and employee safety
- Oversee staff parking permit process and monitor compliance
Qualifications:
- High-school diploma or GED
- Successful completion of IAHSS Basic exam within 90 days of hire
- Maintain IAHSS Basic certification
- Current Basic Life Support certification through American Heart Association within 9 months of hire
- Successful completion of Northwestern Medicine Defensive Tactics in Healthcare within 6 months of hire
- Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with a variety of individuals
- Writing skills necessary to complete reports and paperwork that meets departmental standards
- Valid driver's license
- Physical ability and knowledge of how to operate a motor vehicle
- Physical Demands Requirement:
- Physical demands required for this role include lift/carry up to 65 pounds and a push/pull force up to 75 pounds
- Physical ability and knowledge of how to operate a motor vehicle
- Physical ability to stand and walk during much of work shift patrolling hospital buildings and grounds
- Physical ability to respond quickly to emergency situations that may include stair climbing or other physical exertion in the protection of patients, visitors, and staff
- Physical ability to lift and assist with heavy objects occasionally
Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per year
