Job Summary

The Granite YMCA is seeking a highly skilled Behavior Support Specialist to join our team at the Downtown Manchester location. This critical role will provide essential support to our early learning programs, focusing on behavior management and staff coaching.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and group management skills, with the ability to implement and role model effective behavior management strategies. They will work closely with teachers to develop and implement success and safety plans, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for children.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing training and coaching to teachers on behavior management strategies
  • Implementing and role modeling effective behavior management strategies
  • Supporting teachers in discreetly implementing success and safety plans
  • Providing recommendations for proper disciplinary procedures
  • Supervising children who require additional support
  • Maintaining a physically and psychologically safe environment
  • Modeling and teaching character development and Y core value qualities
  • Building effective working relationships with staff

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years' experience working with children in a licensed program
  • Related college credits and/or certifications
  • Strong organizational and group management skills
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office and general computer functions
  • Previous experience with diverse populations
