Position Overview

The Forklift Operator plays a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and safety of warehouse operations. This position involves operating powered industrial trucks to manage inventory effectively and ensure the smooth flow of materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that all equipment, safety devices, and guards are in place and adhere to safe work procedures and regulations.
  • Inventory Management: Operate forklifts to retrieve pallets from the conveyor line and transport them to designated storage areas within the warehouse.
  • Order Staging: Prepare and stage orders for shipment by placing inventory in the correct locations.
  • Loading Operations: Efficiently load outbound truck trailers with aluminum cans, ensuring accuracy and safety during transport.
  • Production Coordination: Understand and align with the daily production schedule, communicating effectively with management and team members.
  • Quality Control: Conduct visual inspections of aluminum cans and packaging to maintain quality standards.
  • Dunnage Management: Ensure the availability of necessary dunnage materials in the outgoing area.
  • Equipment Monitoring: Observe equipment and processes, reporting any issues to supervisors promptly.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment through diligent housekeeping practices.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as required to support warehouse operations.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 2-3 years of experience in forklift operation within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective record-keeping and listening abilities.
  • Basic proficiency in English.
  • Crown certification for operating powered industrial trucks.
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the associate will:

  • Regularly stand, use hands, and reach with arms.
  • Occasionally walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and varying temperatures.
  • Work in a loud environment.
