Job Summary

The Radiological Technologist is a certified health professional responsible for applying the art and science of diagnostic imaging safely and effectively. Under the direction of an authorized user, you will utilize ionizing radiation to capture high-quality images that aid in diagnosing medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain patients' clinical history and relevant lab results, documenting this information for use by licensed practitioners.
  • Position and immobilize patients to ensure optimal demonstration of anatomical areas of interest, taking into account patients' abilities and comfort levels.
  • Apply principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Perform radiographic procedures by selecting and operating imaging equipment and associated accessories.
  • Verify informed consent and complete pre- and post-procedure documentation.
  • Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized radiography procedures, adhering to aseptic surgical techniques as needed.
  • Participate in timeouts as required by policy.
  • Identify, prepare, and administer medications/contrast as prescribed by licensed practitioners.
  • Receive, relay, and document verbal, written, and electronic orders in patients' medical records.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality.
  • Document patient dose exposures.
Requirements
  • Certificate from an ARRT-accredited institute.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience.
  • Certification and registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).
  • State licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed).
  • BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH).
  • EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training (preferred).
  • Picture archiving communication system (PACS) training (preferred).
