Job Overview

Delaware Elevator offers a comprehensive apprenticeship program for individuals seeking a career in the elevator trade. This program combines online coursework with hands-on training to prepare candidates for success as elevator mechanics or service technicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist licensed elevator mechanics in all aspects of the job, including installation, modernization, service, and maintenance.
  • Learn to assemble, install, repair, or maintain electric or hydraulic freight or passenger elevators, escalators, moving walkways, or dumbwaiters.
  • Complete weekly on-the-job training sheets, signed and approved by a mechanic, while remaining active with related instruction following a set schedule and guidelines.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines, policies, and procedures as directed by mechanics and other Delaware Elevator professionals.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be mechanically inclined, experienced with basic hand and power tools, and physically able to perform fit-for-duty work of the trade, including comfort with heights.
  • Able to travel out of town as needed, holding a valid and good driver's license, with overnight stays required.
  • Successfully pass drug, background screening, and skill assessments, as well as obtain security clearance for ongoing jobsite-specific access.
