Crane Specialist

East Coast Repair and Fabrication is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. As a Crane Specialist, you will be responsible for the safe operation of cranes to lift, move, position, and reposition loads.

• Operate cranes under general supervision to ensure safe and efficient lifting and moving of loads.
• Manipulate crane controls to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
• Repair and maintain cranes as needed to ensure optimal performance.
• Conduct pre-operational checklists to ensure cranes are in good working condition.
• Determine if any parts are malfunctioning and report to supervisors.
• Complete job tickets, service quality summaries, and other necessary paperwork.
• Lift, position, and place machinery, equipment, or other large objects at job sites or facilities.
• Place blocks and outriggers to prevent capsizing when lifting heavy loads.
• Operate cranes according to signals from helpers and follow directions carefully.
• Conduct safety briefs with crews prior to operations each day.
• Identify hazards or risks on job sites and report to supervisors.
• Only operate cranes according to training and certification, and per the Operator Manual and procedure.
• Stop operations for any unsafe issues and place cranes in a safe condition at the end of operations.

• Graduation from a standard apprenticeship/trade/vocational school.
• High school diploma or GED required and 3 or more years of related experience or equivalent of training and experience.
• NCCCO Certifications required.
• Class B Drivers License Required, Class A preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and hand signals.
• Ability to gain access to military installations.
• Excellent attention to detail and eye-hand coordination.
• Must pass a drug test and background check.
