Job Description:

Pendleton Family Medicine, a part of Praxis Health, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to support our healthcare team.

This role involves working collaboratively with physicians and providers to deliver exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will have a passion for serving others, be highly organized, and possess excellent customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend work regularly and on time.
  • Maintain effective interpersonal relations with the team, supervisors, and patients.
  • Room patients within 4-6 minutes and ensure their comfort and satisfaction while ensuring the provider is timely with starting patient visits.
  • Communicate effectively with the care team to ensure the smooth flow of patient care.
  • Capture and accurately document full vitals, including blood pressure, temperature, weight, height, oxygen levels, and pulse.
  • Review medications and allergies, verifying that patients are taking all listed medications and updating the medication list as needed.
  • Perform intake functions, including verifying the date and capturing patients' chief complaints.
  • Provide informational forms to patients as part of chart preparation.
  • Assist with patient discharge and provide after-visit summaries.
  • Complete room turnover processes, including cleaning and restocking.
  • Stock examination rooms and notify supply personnel when items are low.
  • Complete tasks and phone calls daily with guidance from supervisors or ACAs.
  • Perform EKGs, injections, and vaccines under supervision.
  • Complete other tasks as directed by supervisors or ACAs.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • Medical Assisting diploma from an accredited vocational institution is preferred, though not required; a community college program in medical assisting is also advantageous
  • Recent experience as a Medical Assistant or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) in a medical facility is preferred
  • Proficiency in Electrocardiogram (EKG) procedures, vital sign measurement, venipuncture, capillary blood draws, and administering injections is preferred

General Physical Requirements:

This role requires the ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

This role involves working in a combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings. OSHA Category: This position performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues. All employees performing these duties are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis-B vaccination series.
