Overview


The Pediatric Registered Nurse is a vital and credentialed member of the Professional Nursing Organization, responsible for independent practice guided by the core principles of practitioner, leader, scientist, and educator.

The Pediatric Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to deliver evidence-based care while continuously monitoring and assessing practice to ensure the safe and effective treatment of patients, prioritizing the best interests of the populations served.

Key Responsibilities

Practitioner

Employs the nursing process to assess, diagnose, identify outcomes, plan, implement, and evaluate a personalized care plan.


Utilizes critical thinking and the nursing process to foresee and identify changes in patient condition, taking appropriate actions to adjust the care plan or escalate to the healthcare team as necessary.


Adheres to the ANA Code of Ethics to advocate for patients, uphold their autonomy in decision-making, ensure informed consent, and assist patients and families in expressing self-determination.

Actively seeks constructive feedback and takes steps to enhance performance.

Leader

Manages interpersonal relationships effectively for self and with colleagues.

Mentors peers to advance nursing practice and the profession.


Takes responsibility and accountability for the nursing care provided to patients while appropriately delegating aspects of care to other members of the healthcare team in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies.

Prioritizes and organizes time efficiently to optimize patient outcomes.

Scientist

Proactively seeks the latest evidence and standards, applying and integrating them into daily practice.


Models a culture of inquiry, contributing to research, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice at the local level.

Educator

Communicates effectively across various formats in all areas of practice.

Collaborates with others to drive change that yields positive outcomes through knowledge exchange.

Precepts student nurses, nurse externs, nurse residents, experienced clinical nurses, and other members of the healthcare team.

Performs additional duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program is required.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) with at least 1 year of experience.

Associate Degree (ADN) prepared nurses with a minimum of 2 years' experience.


All Associate Degree (ADN) prepared nurses must commit to completing a BSN or higher nursing degree within 10 years of their hire date.

Required Licensure/Certifications

Licensed Registered Nurse with eligibility in New Hampshire.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required upon hire and, as applicable, higher-level certifications per unit requirements as stated in the AHA and Life Support Policy.

ACLS Certification required upon hire in specific units.
