The Unit Receptionist - Patient Care Technician plays a vital role in the smooth functioning of the patient care unit. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, this individual assists the staff nurse with specific patient activities.
Key Responsibilities- Clerical Duties: Completes all necessary forms, requisitions, communications, and special projects as assigned. Accurately transcribes physicians' orders (when applicable).
- Communication: Acts as a central communication resource at the nursing station for all patient care activities. Maintains good customer service and patient confidentiality.
- Data Management: Accurately inputs and retrieves data.
- Clerical Support: Initiates, maintains, replaces, or completes various clerical forms, reports, supplies, etc.
- Patient Care: Assists patients and nurses as necessary with ADL, Vital Signs, and patient Plan of Care.
- Transportation: Transports (or assists with transport) of patients to other units or departments as necessary.
- Reporting: Reports any changes observed in condition or behavior of patients.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification: Current CNA certification, or completion of one year of clinical experience in an accredited RN nursing program, or EMT-B, or equivalent required.
- Experience: Medical terminology/keyboarding skills preferred. Experience in clerical or receptionist position preferred. Previous experience in an acute care environment preferred.
