Location: Scottsdale, Arizona

Working Hours: 5:00 am - 1:30 pm

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday

Employment Type: Full Time/Benefit Eligible

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct essential processes in patient care, from specimen accessioning to various staining techniques for slide preparation.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of quality control and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Engage in inventory management and contribute to process enhancement initiatives.
  • Participate in the implementation of digital slide scanning technology.
  • Support staff development and training as directed by the laboratory manager.
  • Address technical inquiries and concerns from colleagues, pathologists, and clients to the laboratory manager.
  • Foster effective communication with team members, laboratory director, and management.
  • Identify when troubleshooting is necessary to ensure optimal specimen quality.
  • Assist in upholding compliance with the laboratory's standard operating procedures and quality management systems.
  • Operate in a dynamic laboratory environment, managing biological and chemical hazards.
  • Promote safety, compliance, and quality assurance throughout the laboratory.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a CAHEA/NAACLS accredited Histotechnology program and certification as HT (ASCP).
  • A minimum of one year of laboratory training or experience in high complexity testing.
  • Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or an equivalent body.
  • Strong proficiency in reading, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to operate standard laboratory equipment, including telephones, computers, processors, stainers, microscopes, and microtomes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of laboratory training or experience in a high-volume laboratory, with documented expertise in special stains and immunohistochemistry.

This position will involve regular access to Protected Health Information (PHI). Employees will receive training on safeguarding measures and are expected to maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant privacy and security standards. Access to PHI is permitted only as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
