Job Overview

Location: Hybrid/Washington, DC.

We are in search of a dedicated and client-focused cybersecurity expert to enhance our Department of State client's cybersecurity initiatives. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing the client's cybersecurity framework, ensuring the implementation of cyber policies, operational roles, and compliance measures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize the established security framework to develop tailored cybersecurity policies for specific departments. Advocate for robust security practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Create and execute a role-specific cybersecurity training program for essential positions (SO, ISSO, ISSM, etc.). Develop training materials that align with job responsibilities and foster a culture of security awareness across the organization.
  • Thoroughly document current cybersecurity processes and procedures. Analyze workflows critically to pinpoint areas for improvement and increased efficiency.
  • Design and maintain a comprehensive compliance tracking system for essential documents such as POA&M, ATO, and ISA. Ensure compliance deadlines are met and risks are managed proactively.
  • Exhibit a strong understanding of the Department of State's cybersecurity framework. Leverage this expertise to enhance processes and guide the seamless integration of these principles within the software development environment.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • At least 8 years of experience in process development, implementation, and enhancement within a software development context, with a deep understanding of cybersecurity in government contracting.
  • Proven ability to deconstruct complex processes, identify inefficiencies, and propose practical solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proficient in translating security requirements across diverse teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Government Contracting Knowledge: In-depth understanding of U.S. government cybersecurity standards and regulations.
  • Familiarity with DOS FAM/FAH: Practical knowledge of FAM/FAH and its relevance to software development.
  • Valuable certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or other security-related credentials are highly regarded.
  • Agile Methodologies: Experience with Agile practices and their application within security processes.

Clearance Requirement: Active Secret clearance is necessary.
