Job Summary

The University of Chicago Medicine is seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team in the General Procedures or Pediatrics department. As a Radiology Technologist, you will play a critical role in performing diagnostic imaging studies, utilizing radiation protection principles, and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review physician's orders to ensure appropriateness of examinations.
  • Select exposure factors based on body part, pathology, patient's age, and technical equipment characteristics.
  • Review images for proper positioning, technique, and identification.
  • Perform a variety of general diagnostic studies with efficiency and high standards of quality.
  • Prepare contrast media for administration to patients and assist physicians in performing GI/GU studies.
  • Interface with customers, patients, and their family members, medical staff, and visitors in a friendly, professional manner.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree in a related medical field of study or equivalent experience.
  • Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved program.
  • Certified by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists.
  • Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA).
  • Demonstrates proficiency in performing diagnostic imaging.
  • Functions proficiently with all technical equipment in diagnostic modality.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Good decision-making and judgment skills.
  • Maintain required continuing education as mandated by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists.
  • Considerable knowledge of standard office practices and procedures along with knowledge of computers and software programs specific to the UCMC and the radiology department.
  • CPR certification.

Position Details

  • Job Type/FTE: 0.1 FTE.
  • Shift: Registry, rotating.
  • Unit/Department: Imaging/X-Ray/Diagnostic (Adults or Pediatrics).
  • CBA Code: Non-Union.
  • No Visa Sponsorship Available.
  • Every other holiday.

  • Must comply with UCMC's COVID-19 Vaccination requirement as a condition of employment.
  • Pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check are required for all employees prior to hire.
