Job Summary

Muncie Power Products, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Machinist III to join our manufacturing team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating precision CNC machining and gear-cutting equipment, with a focus on technical problem-solving and minimizing risk to the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Write programs for CNC lathes and mills, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in production.
  • Assist in planning, developing, and implementing robotic and CNC part programming for new or revised parts and robotic programs.
  • Collaborate with senior manufacturing engineers to optimize computer hardware and software systems used in programming.
  • Operate multiple machines simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting production deadlines.
  • Interpret written instructions and specifications, including blueprint reading, to ensure accurate production.
  • Perform a variety of turning operations with aluminum, cast iron, and steel materials to specified tolerances.
  • Use a range of hand tools and measuring instruments to ensure quality and precision in production.
  • Monitor the production process, following inspection procedures, and identify variances to ensure compliance with company quality standards.
  • Perform machine setups and tool changes, maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds of machining.
  • Partially dismantle machines and perform minor maintenance work, ensuring equipment is in good working order.
  • Lift and move heavy objects, adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Inspect finished parts, ensuring they meet quality and precision standards.
  • Responsible for completing work orders and reporting labor hours worked, maintaining accurate records.
  • Recommend process changes to optimize production and improve quality, contributing to cost reductions and productivity improvements.
  • Communicate production status to supervisor and shift personnel, ensuring any problems or schedules are understood.
Requirements
  • Machining certification from an accredited vocational institute, with three years of CNC machining experience or four years of precision machining experience desired.
  • Programming experience preferred, with the ability to create change across functional and departmental boundaries.
  • Must be flexible to perform a variety of assignments and adapt to changing conditions, with a strong desire to succeed.
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, with the ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Able to interpret written instructions and specifications, with a good mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing functions, including methods, processing, tooling, work standards, plant layout, and cost controls and reductions.
  • Knowledge and skills to develop and implement CNC part programming to effectively support machining and robotic operations and assembly processes.

Shift Type: Monday–Thursday (4-10s), 6am-4:30pm.
